Founded in 1933 by New York City canoe racers who were members of the American Canoe Association, and originally based at Lake Sebago in Harriman State Park. Members built the current Brooklyn clubhouse on Paerdegat Basin in 1961; the club paddles kayaks and canoes and also sails and rows.
